We strongly discourage relying on online directories and blogs that provide vague price ranges, such as $300-$500 per panel or fixed costs for paint repair. These figures are usually outdated and in no way remotely accurate, leading to disappointment and frustration when the actual costs do not align with expectations.
The reason for this is that paint repair depends on a variety of factors unique to each job. It’s difficult to provide a price without understanding the specifics of your vehicle and its condition. Below are some key factors we need to know and consider before providing you an initial assessment:
- Vehicle Make/Model/Year: Each vehicle is different, and factors like size, design complexity, and how easily panels can be disassembled, reassembled and repaired affect the work required.
- Paint Type: Different paint finishes can significantly impact the price. Specialty paints like pearl and metallic colours tend to be more expensive due to their complexity and premium nature.
- Extent of work: Whether you have one or several affected panels will influence the price.
- Type of Damage: The process for rectifying paint is different based on the type of damage
- Location of Damage: The area of the car affected by the damage matters. Some parts, such as edges and curves are more difficult and time-consuming to repair and respray, which can add to the overall cost.
Given these many variables, it's crucial to have a proper assessment of your vehicle to determine the exact scope of work and cost involved.
Yes, we can match your car’s colour. We begin by using your vehicle’s colour code, found on the VIN plate, and then employ a spectrophotometer to ensure a correct match. Additionally, our experienced technicians use their trained eye to identify and correct any discrepancies, ensuring a flawless result.
In cases of sun fading or difficult-to-match limited-edition colours, we rely on traditional techniques, mixing and spraying test panels until the perfect match is achieved.
After a respray, it’s crucial to let the paint fully harden before washing your car. Although the paint is baked in our commercial spray booth to accelerate curing, it still needs time to achieve optimal durability.
We recommend waiting at least two weeks before washing, waxing, or exposing your vehicle to harsh conditions, as these could compromise the fresh paint. For best results, opt for hand washing instead of automatic car washes, which can be abrasive.
Feel free to ask our team for advice on suitable cleaning products to ensure they are gentle and safe for your vehicle's new paint finish.
We use Octoral automotive paints, known for their durability, UV protection, and precise colour matching to OEM standards. These paints are designed to resist fading and environmental wear, ensuring your vehicle maintains its pristine appearance. Octoral provides a wide range of finishes, including metallics, pearls, candy and solids, with robust clearcoats to protect your vehicle long-term.
For custom colours, we recommend House of Kolor. This premium brand offers a stunning array of finishes, including candy colours, metallics, and colour-shifting effects, allowing for a truly unique and personalised result.
In most cases, your excess can be paid directly to your insurer or to us, your repairer. Some insurers may not offer this option, so it’s best to inquire when lodging your claim.
If you choose to pay through us, payment will be due once we have completed the repairs, and your vehicle is ready for collection. Please note that we cannot release your vehicle until the excess has been received.
You can have the utmost confidence knowing our workmanship carries a lifetime warranty. The vehicle paint and OEM parts we use carry their own individual manufacturer guarantees which extend to you.
Yes, you can still nominate Dynamic Autobody as your ‘chosen repairer’ for smash repairs. Most insurers provide a ‘choice of repairer’ option which allows you to select a reputable repairer you trust for your vehicle repairs.
While your insurance may suggest a "preferred repairer," you are not obligated to choose them. A preferred repairer is one that has an agreement with the insurance company, which helps streamline workflow in exchange for lower repair invoices. However, this arrangement can lead to tighter budgets and rushed timelines, potentially compromising repair quality and safety. It’s essential to select your own repairer to ensure the quality of repairs, the safety of you and your family, and the resale value of your vehicle.
Due to the numerous factors involved, such as vehicle make, model, color, and the nature and extent of any damage, we cannot rely on verbal descriptions to provide a quote. Our Vehicle damage analysts need to visually assess your vehicle's damage. To make this process easier and give you the best service, simply submit your vehicle photos and details through our convenient online assessment tool:
We can assist with both. Our services can be funded either through your insurance or handled privately. We can help you determine which option is best for your situation based on the type and extent of the damage.
If you prefer to maintain your no-claim bonus or are uninsured, we can facilitate a private repair. However, we strongly recommend having comprehensive car insurance to protect yourself from significant out-of-pocket expenses. With vehicles becoming increasingly complex, including features like sensors and driver assist technology (ADAS), the cost of a new bumper alone can exceed several thousand dollars, even before painting and installation.
For an initial assessment of your vehicle please submit your vehicle photos via our online tool:
You may feel inclined to consider the other driver’s out-of-pocket expenses, especially if they are unable to afford them. This might lead them to ask you for multiple quotes, requiring your time and effort to drive around and organise assessments for an incident that wasn’t your fault. They may then attempt to choose the cheapest repair option, but how can you guarantee the quality and safety of those repairs?
Remember, as a not-at-fault driver, you have no obligation to the other driver. Your priority should be to you and your family, ensuring your vehicle is repaired correctly and safely.
It is always advisable and considered best practice to lodge a claim through your own insurance and designate your chosen repairer. This approach ensures the best outcome and safest repairs for both you and your vehicle while also preserving its resale value.
The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique serial number that allows us to accurately identify your vehicle. This ensures that the repair methods and parts are appropriately matched, resulting in precise quotes.
The VIN number is typically located on a small metal plaque under the hood in the engine bay, on the driver’s or passenger side door jambs, or on your vehicle’s registration paperwork.
